It’s Spring 2015 Fashion Week! Fashion week is that wonderful time of the year where everyone “cares” about fashion and it’s socially acceptable to talk (or tweet… mostly tweet) about it all day long. Hooray! Before we get into any fashion week coverage here on Fashion of Culture, allow me to give you a bit of a disclaimer. This is my world. By you being here on this very website you have now entered my world where we go by my rules. With that said, I will not cover every major or most popular show, there are plenty of other places on the internet where you can get that. Not here. I will also not cover any and every designer just because they’re a designer of color. What will I cover you ask? Good question. I will cover shows that I believe are the epitome of phenomenal talent. Shows that make tightly woven polyester crépeon seem exciting, and shows that remind you that fashion isn’t all about labels, trends, and Instagram, but artistry too. Got it? Good. Now, let’s talk about fashion.
One of my favorite shows of the day was by Japanese designer Tadashi Shoji. Shoji is a legend in his own right by his involvement with the fashion industry dating as far back as the sixties. His aesthetic is always contemporary, chic, and effortlessly elegant. Shoji’s Spring 2015 Ready-To-Wear was dominated by colors that were airy and clean. Ivory, peach, navy, and a little custard yellow. The collection was inspired by Galleria Giorgio Franchetti alla Ca' d'Oro also known as the "Golden Palace of Venice,” which was made clear by the silhouettes full of royal opulence. The collection featured bell sleeved dresses and floor length capes of solid chiffon with delicate embroidery. Speaking of delicate, the collection also had many fluid lace pieces that moved gracefully down the runway. I can see many pieces of this collection being ideal during award season. If you’re a celebrity stylist, or celebrity, don’t sleep on Tadashi Shoji Spring 2015.

Loved the disclaimer!!! I felt my inner self stand at attention reading that, lol. And the fact that you don't just cover designer for the sake of coverage, you dig deeper, you pick and choose your content by focusing in on what catches your interest, and that is refreshing, to say the least, and I'm still learning so much!
ReplyDeleteThe dresses are gorgeous, especially the first one. Incredible structure and detailing went into all of the pieces pictured.
